Senior Requirements

Seniors should:

✔ Create necessary accounts:

• GAfutures (college applications, HOPE GPA, DE info)

• Common App

• Common Black College App

✔ Apply to colleges during:

• Apply to College Month: November 2025 & March 2026

• GA Match program

✔ Complete ALL application steps:

• Submit essays, recommendation requests, test scores, required documents

• Request transcripts through Parchment

• Check email daily

✔ After Acceptance:

• Notify Mrs. Rogers and Mr. Knighton

• Submit scholarship award letters

• Pay commitment & housing fees for chosen college

Mr. Knighton helps seniors with:

• College advising
• Applications & paperwork
• Scholarships
• FAFSA
• College events
• College rep visits

• Apply for ALL scholarships—big and small.

• Major scholarships: HOPE, Zell Miller, Achieve Atlanta, 5 Strong, Gates, Coca-Cola, Ron Brown, POSSE (updates shared).

• Goal: $5 million in scholarships!

HOPE Scholarship:

• Rigor courses required
• GPA determined by GAfutures

Zell Miller Scholarship:

• 3.7 HOPE GPA
• 1200 SAT or 25 ACT
• Valedictorian/Salutatorian automatically qualify

Seniors should be prepared to:

• Research colleges
• Tour campuses
• Write strong personal statements
• Build a clean, clear resume
• Track deadlines
• Attend all senior workshops

• Students should take the SAT/ACT multiple times

• Use free test prep resources

• Review score reports to target weak areas

Students may explore:

• College or University

• Technical College Programs

• Military Service (requires ASVAB)

• Apprenticeships (paid training + certifications)

• Create FSA ID early

• FAFSA expected release: October 1

• Add all interested colleges to FAFSA

• Attend FAFSA workshops
