About the Honorary Diploma
The Atlanta Board of Education awards honorary diplomas to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to education, the community, or a particular field. These honorary diplomas reflect achievements that embody the values, mission, and goals of Atlanta Public Schools (APS). This application establishes a fair and consistent process for awarding honorary diplomas, ensuring alignment with the district's mission. By honoring these individuals, APS not only celebrates their accomplishments but also inspires future generations to strive for positive societal impact.
Please note the following important limitations of the honorary diploma:
- The honorary diploma is ceremonial in nature
- It does not substitute for a high school diploma issued under Georgia graduation requirements
- It does not confer academic credit or eligibility for postsecondary admissions
Individuals seeking to complete a high school credential should be referred to adult education or GED programs offered through the district or local partners.
