G.I.R.L. (GET INTO ROBOTICS LADIES)

Team Overview/About G.I.R.L. Robotics

Founded in 2023, the G.I.R.L. Robotics Team (FRC Team 9057) was established to empower CSK scholars to lead, innovate, and explore engineering and technology. Open to students in grades 6–12, our program provides a supportive space where young women develop STEM confidence, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and real-world technical experience.

Our mission is to inspire the next generation of STEAMinists to become globally conscious, college- and career-ready leaders who use robotics, creativity, and outreach to strengthen their communities. Guided by our vision that all CSKYWLA scholars will become globally conscious STEMinists, the team embraces innovation, collaboration, and leadership at every stage of the robotics journey.

FIRST Robotics Program Description

CSKYWLA proudly competes in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), the highest level of the FIRST program for high school teams. FIRST Robotics is an international organization that blends engineering, innovation, teamwork, and leadership as students design, build, and program a full-scale competition robot each season. Guided by adult mentors, students gain hands-on experience with coding, mechanical design, electrical systems, strategy, and real-world problem-solving while working as a collaborative team.

Each year, FIRST releases a new global challenge theme, requiring teams to analyze a game field, develop a strategy, build a robot from the ground up, and compete against other teams in high-energy events. Students not only learn technical skills, but they also experience project management, communication, gracious professionalism, and resilience.

Participation in FRC helps CSK scholars develop confidence as STEM leaders, preparing them for future opportunities in engineering, technology, and beyond.
