Cell Phone Policy
At Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy, we follow the Atlanta Public Schools Rule 14F in the Student Handbook, which does not allow students to use or access cell phones at any time during the school day. This policy helps keep students focused, safe, and fully engaged in learning.
What Students Need to Know
-
Cell phones are not allowed during the entire school day. This includes instructional time, hallway transitions, lunch, and all non-instructional periods.
-
Students may not access, check, or hold their phone at any time. Even having a phone out briefly is a violation.
-
No personal devices may be used in class. Teachers will not create lessons that require cell phones.
-
Only school-issued devices may be used during instructional time.
-
If a parent needs to reach a student in an emergency, please call the front office, and a staff member will assist.
Consequences for Violating the Cell Phone Policy
| Violation | Consequence |
|---|---|
| 1st Violation | Verbal warning |
| 2nd Violation | Phone is confiscated and will only be returned to the parent/guardian during a scheduled conference at the school |
| 3rd Violation | Phone is confiscated and the student loses the privilege of having a cell phone on campus for one semester |
| 4th Violation (or more) | Phone is confiscated and the student loses the privilege of having a cell phone on campus for one calendar year |
