MTSS Program Overview
The Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a district-wide framework designed to ensure that every student receives the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support they need to be successful. MTSS helps schools proactively identify student needs early and provide the right level of instruction, intervention, and support through a coordinated, data-driven approach.
MTSS is built on the belief that all students can grow and achieve when they receive high-quality instruction, responsive interventions, and ongoing progress monitoring. By examining multiple sources of data—such as classroom performance, behavior patterns, attendance, and social-emotional indicators—educators can determine the level of support each student needs and adjust services accordingly.
How MTSS Works
MTSS organizes support into three tiers, allowing schools to deliver the right interventions at the right time:
Tier 1 – Universal Support for All Students
This tier includes strong, evidence-based instruction in every classroom. All students benefit from a rigorous curriculum aligned to state standards, positive behavioral expectations, and embedded social-emotional learning. Regular screening and progress monitoring ensure that students who may need additional support are identified quickly. The goal of Tier 1 is for most students to achieve success through high-quality core instruction alone.
Tier 2 – Targeted Support
Students who need more than universal instruction receive targeted, small-group interventions focused on specific skill areas. These supports are research-based and are monitored closely to determine whether students are responding to the intervention or may require more intensive help.
Tier 3 – Intensive Individualized Support
Students with the most significant or persistent needs receive individualized interventions tailored specifically to their academic, behavioral, or social-emotional challenges. These supports are often delivered one-on-one and involve collaboration with specialists to develop a comprehensive plan for student success.
MTSS INTERVENTION SPECIALIST

My journey in education began with my great aunt, who showed me that anything is possible with hard work and determination. Her unwavering belief in perseverance shaped the values I carry with me today, and it’s the same message I share with our students: you are capable, and you are worth the effort.
She believed in me before I believed in myself. That simple truth is what I bring into every classroom, every parent conference, and every conversation. Our students deserve someone who sees their potential, even when they can’t yet see it themselves.
For over 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in roles that nurture student growth from my early days as a special education teacher to my current role as a Multi-Tiered Support Specialist and 504 Contact. In this position, I meet students where they are, walk alongside them, and help them grow into who they’re meant to become.
Education isn’t just my profession, it’s my purpose. Every student has a story, and I’m deeply honored to be part of theirs.
