Library Overview

Welcome to the Eagles Nest Learning Center, which is the heart of reading, research, and innovation at CSKYWLA. Our media center is designed to inspire curiosity, support academic success, and empower students to become confident, independent learners. Guided by our mission and vision, we strive to develop information-literate, tech-savvy, and enthusiastic readers who are prepared to lead in a digital and global world.

The Eagles Nest Learning Center provides open and equitable access to print and digital resources for all students and staff. Our welcoming environment encourages reading for pleasure, research exploration, collaboration, creativity, and quiet study. Students are supported by a knowledgeable media staff ready to assist with locating materials, accessing technology, developing research skills, and finding books they’ll love.

To help students navigate books with ease, our fiction section is genrefied, meaning it is organized by popular genres, similar to a modern bookstore. This arrangement allows readers to browse favorite categories such as fantasy, mystery, romance, adventure, and more, making the search for the perfect book engaging and intuitive.

Students and teachers are welcome to access the media center throughout the school week for reading, research, technology use, and classroom collaborations. Teachers may also bring classes for instruction, enrichment, or special projects.

At the Eagles Nest Learning Center, our goal is simple: to ensure every student has the resources, support, and opportunities needed to become a lifelong learner and lover of reading.

Meet the Librarian

Quandra Adams

I am honored to serve as the school librarian for the Eagles Nest Learning Center. Now in my 19th year in education, I bring experience teaching across elementary, middle, and high school levels in multiple content areas, including mathematics, science, English/language arts, and social studies. I have also served as both a gifted lead teacher and a special educator.

I am passionate about cultivating a love for reading, learning, and exploration in all students. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with my family. I look forward to supporting our scholars and collaborating with staff and families to enrich learning throughout the school year.

Library & Reading Programs Explained

Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl

The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is a competitive reading team in which students read a selected list of award-nominated books and compete against other schools in a fast-paced, quiz-style competition. This program builds comprehension skills, sharpens critical thinking, and fosters a strong love for reading. Participation encourages teamwork, confidence, and deeper engagement with high-quality literature.

Library Page Program (Student Volunteers)

Race 2 Read

The Race2Read Challenge is a district-wide literacy initiative that encourages students, teachers, families, and community partners to read for at least 20 minutes each day. Participants track their reading minutes in Beanstack and contribute to our collective goal of building stronger readers across Atlanta. Readers can earn recognition and prizes for consistent participation, and the challenge helps inspire a citywide commitment to closing the literacy gap through daily reading.
